Required textbooks cost approximately $200.00 - $300.00.  Optional reference books and study aids will increase the cost, however, many reference materials will be available for use at HTSMT’s library.  Some required textbooks will be used in more than one class.  HTSMT does not sell used books, although the student may find them through other sources.

Massage Tables and Chairs are optional and the student is not required to purchase them, although we do strongly recommend it.  We will be happy to give our students information about massage table models.  Students may also schedule practice time at our school.  If you wish to use a table at HTSMT you must call ahead to schedule a time and you must provide and launder your own linens.  There is no charge to use a table at HTSMT for practice before the Internship begins.  Portable massage tables are available for rental: $15.00 per day or $100.00/month, plus a security deposit.  Contact Sophie Fuller to make arrangements.

              Miscellaneous:

Students are required to receive two one-hour massages before the first day of class (both massage must be from their primary instructors for Massage Techniques I Class), and will also be required to have three other massages during the course of the program from a Certified Massage Therapist who uses a techniques other than Esalen or Swedish Massage.  The fee for these sessions will vary depending upon where the student chooses to receive the massages.  Discounts are given to currently enrolled students from HTSMT at the Healing Touch Spa & Salon location.

Students are also required to provide their own sheets, towels and massage lotion for the Massage Techniques Classes, all of which may be purchased either through HTSMT or from other sources.

A deposit of $80.00 will be required for a mannequin for the Anatomy classes.  This amount will be refunded when the mannequin is returned in good condition. If the mannequin is not clean or is damaged, part or all of the deposit will be retained by HTSMT.

All students are required to have insurance with the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).  Cost is $70 for 18 months for the student level.  Forms and payment must be returned to the Assistant Director on the first day of class.

On occasion, electives are offered that have more than a nominal materials fee.  Most of the material fees for electives are $20 or less.  Material fees are clearly listed on registration forms for electives.  HTSMT does it’s best to defray additional student expenses, but occasionally new materials become available or class projects are assigned which will require modest expenditures.
